Will Smith Defends Scientology
In recent weeks magazines have been reporting that Tom Cruise had convinced Will Smith to be a part of Scientology. We’ve all seen how close these two celebrities are, but no one knew just how close. Course when the magazines ran around reporting it, it wasn’t hard for fans to believe. But if they really thought about it not everyone Tom hangs out with is a Scientology believer.
Will Smith has finally come forward and said that No, he is not planning on becoming a member of Scientology. He told Rush and Molley: “You don’t have to be Jewish to be a friend of Steven Spielberg. You don’t have to be a Muslim to be a friend of Muhammad Ali.
“And you don’t have to be a Scientologist to be a friend of Tom Cruise.
He adds: “I am a Christian. I am a student of all religions.”
As you can see he does not plan on leaving his own religion and will continue his friendship with Tom and Katie. What’s your take on it? Do your friends have to be the same religion as you to get along? I think this all came about because last month Will stated that Tom is very passionate about his religion and we all know Tom does a lot of recruiting for Scientology. Someone just assumed he was trying to pull Will in, but apparently this was not the case.

Where does it say he defends Scientology? He says he is a Christian and a student of all religions. He doesn’t defend anything.

He defends Tom’s belief in Scientology, sorry about the phrasing. Here is a quote with a link to an article.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22088489/
“I was introduced, [to] it by Tom and I’m a student of world religion, Smith said. “I was raised in a Baptist household, I went to a Catholic school, but the ideas of the Bible are 98 percent the same ideas of Scientology, 98 percent the same ideas of Hinduism and Buddhism.
When I sit and I talk with Tom Cruise, he is one of the greatest spirits that I’ve ever met – someone who is committed to making the world better,â€? Will said. “You have people [that] are attacking and wanna fight that don’t know nothing — how you gonna not know nothing about Scientology and attack somebody? It’s dangerous and it’s ignorant.”
