Viacom’s Sumner Redstone Hopes to Mend Friendship with Cruise.

Redstone, Chairman of Viacom-owned Paramount Pictures, wants to be friends with Tom Cruise. For a second time.

Last year Redstone made remarks about Cruise’s behavior regarding his relationship with Katie Holmes and his defense of Scientology. Redstone did not expect his remarks in an interview with The Wall Street Journal to be as explosive as they evidently came across. It marked the end of a long and profitable relationship between Cruise and himself at Paramount Pictures.

Redstone did not like the way The Wall Street Journal portrayed him in his interview. Redstone went on to tell People magazine he’s looking forward to being [Cruise's] friend again.

In the interim, Cruise has signed a deal to breath new life into the United Artist movie studio with MGM.
