Tom Cruise’s Minute of Silence
Tom Cruise recently took a moment of silence to honor the German heroes that are portrayed in his current film, Valkyrie. Valkyrie is a movie about the plot to assasinate Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, Tom Cruise plays Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg., who ended up being put to death because of his role in the plot.
The moment of silence took place in the field where all the German soldiers were executed by Hitler in 1844. This field is also known as Bendlerblock, a place that was banned at the beginning of the filming of Valkyrie, which has recently become unbanned to the filming.
He adds, “It was a very moving moment.”
This movie has definitely had its ups and downs, with the whole banning and not allowed to film the movie on the bases to the accident where many extras were injured. Many of which wanted to sue for their injuries. But all that things behind them now that Bendlerblock has become open to them. Maybe it just took Germany to see that Tom Cruise wasn’t wanting to use this as some Scientology scheme.
Valkyrie is being directed by Bryan Singer and has actors such as Tom Cruise, Christian Berkel, Bill Nighy, Nina Von Stauffenberg, David Bamber, Eddie Izzard and many more. As you can see there are quite a few known actors that should help in making this film what it needs to be. Valkyrie is set to be released in theaters June 27, 2008. I’m really excited about this film as it sounds like it’ll be a great success.
