For those that missed my post on where they are, the Cruise/Holmes family (Tom, Katie and Suri) are currently in Melbourne, Australia waiting for Katie to begin filming for “Don’t be afraid of the Dark.”  Katie begins filming on Monday, not sure what Tom will do at that point.

Tom Cruise stopped off and did some shopping with his ladies, Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise yesterday and boy did they have a blast. Suri got a ton of toys and outfits as mom and dad shopped the stores.

Tom Cruise first stopped off at Myer’s City store and hit up the mid-season toy sale they were having. Yes, it seems even celebrities like to hit up the toy sales. Oh and to show, they got a plush toy kangaroo and hobby horse for Suri and a Mr.Potato Head bag which was free with gift purchase. Suri definitely made out on this trip but it didn’t stop there.

Next stop…FASHION. Tom grabbed up two sequinned frocks from Big by Fiona Scanlan and a few lip glosses she was eyeing at the make up area.  I think these are adorable outfits and my own daughters would love the ballet skirts or butterfly wings.  My guess is this was their way of treating her since they were going out on the town by themselves. I wonder if we’ll see her in them sometime soon.

Rumor has it Kate Ceberano may get the gig of singing to Tom Cruise on his 47th Birthday. This isn’t much of a stretch as far as rumors go since she has got the gig before and it seemed to really make his day. Not to mention she is one of those in high demand when it comes to Celebrity A-list crowds.

According to Kate, well there wasn’t much of a statement but read below:

“There are going to be so many stories while they’re here.  I’m not touching that one.

They are Mr and Mrs America.  They are great people and it will be lovely for Melbourne to be able to have that interaction with these kinds of people.”

When asked how she felt about her daughter, Gypsy (age 5) meeting Suri (age 3):

“Wouldn’t that be magic and fun?” she said.

So looks like we won’t be finding out if she plans on singing, but she is hoping to spend some time with the Cruise/Holmes family.

It is said they left through a back entrance and tomorrow they’ll be hitting the town without Suri to celebrate Tom’s 47th birthday.  The security has been tight, but media is a bit sneaky carrying cameras inside their backpacks and shopping bags.  Oh it does seem that Suri picked herself up another stuffed animal to add to her collection, it looks as Suri has a penguin.

Crown is the hotel they will be staying at while Katie Holmes is filming for “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark.” The filming will take 8 weeks to complete and then she’ll head back home, I’m guessing to LA however rumor has it they just bought that place in The Village so who knows. 

Before you ask, Little Suri was seen coming off the plane in her daddy’s arms. There was no sighting of either Isabella or Connor. From all understandings the couple will be staying in one of the best suites in the hotel, that owned by James Packer. Keep in mind this is the same James Packer that the Hollywood couple went to visit last year for his wedding. He arrived yesterday, some are saying to prepare for the Cruise Family.

Inside the restaurant you will feel as if you were part of one big family, but you’ll never forget where you are. Tables are lined with a white table cloth and just the perfect lighting. Nothing bright and fancy, everything is low dim. Thursdays they actually have jazz musicians.

Items served might be:

Antipasti such sliced tomatoes and buffulo mozzarella drizzled in olive oil. Yum, that already sounds mouthwatering. Or you can get the Calamari Fritti that is corn meal-crusted, market-fresh calamari with marinara sauce. (all this is on their site)

Tom Cruise took the family on down to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at the Infineon Raceway on Father’s Day down in Sonoma, California. Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise and Suri were all seen walking around down in the pit area where the cars are before the race. I’m guessing Connor was chit chatting with some of the drivers or in their booth area. Later you were able to spot Connor in his shades and a light blue t-shirt, Tom in a white collar shirt and glasses, but on his ears were headphones. Think he was reliving his old “Days of Thunder” Days? I wonder if his favorite car won.

Reports are stating that the trailers for the stars arrived on the scene before 5 a.m. Oops, I hope they weren’t very loud. They have security up, which includes security gates to keep all those paps and fans away from them.

So far most of the movie has been filmed in Queens and they seem to be loving it.

“We think this is a charming village and a charming restaurant. It looks great and will be very cinematic,” Urdang said of the Papazzio scene, at which Kidman and Eckhart’s characters discuss whether to continue with group therapy. In the stage drama, a married couple struggles to cope with the automobile-accident death of their only child.

Urdang said the crew looked at Italian restaurants across the borough and ended up renting the Bell Boulevard destination because of “a combination of the artistic look and feel of the place and the logistics of it,” like its proximity to other production locations.

Papazzio owner Dominick Bruccoleri said the exposure was not only beneficial for his restaurant but for all of Bayside.

“You’ve got a high-rated picture that’s being filmed here and it brings good attention to our community, both on a business level and on a community level,” said Bruccoleri, who will appear in the film as the kitchen chef in the background. “It’s not just for Papazzio – It’s for Bayside and Bayside Village.”

So the good thing is not only will it be in the movie, it’ll make others want to stop in to try it. Not to mention those that are filming will probably stop there more often since it is right there in town. What do you think? Would you hang out in the town you were filming and venture into the tiny little neighborhoods? I think this would definitely help the town out.

One bad thing about this, the police seem eager to give tickets to those parking in certain areas now due to the movie.
